Restless leg syndrome has been called the most prevalent disorder no one has ever heard of. It is a fascinating condition that even those who do not suffer from it want to learn more about. Sometimes restless leg syndrome (RLS) is referred to as the "creepy-crawly" disorder, because it creates a creeping sensation in the lower extremities (and occasionally in the upper extremities and trunk). It has also been compared to an "electric current," an "internal itch," or ants crawling up the inside of your legs. Symptoms progress over time in about two-thirds of patients, and may sometimes be severe enough to be disabling. Any disorder that ravages our very sleep is doubly cruel.
